Simmered Chinese Chicken

Ingredients

- 1 whole fryer
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon catsup
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 1 clove garlic, pressed
- 1 green onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
Recipe
- 1 heat oil in dutch oven, brown chicken on all sides.
- 2 mix soy sauce and next 6 ingredients, pour over chicken.
- 3 cover, simmer 45 to 50 minutes.
- 4 remove chicken to platter, draining juices back into pan.
- 5 skim fat from sauce.
- 6 mix cornstarch and water, stir into sauce.
- 7 stir, constant, until thick.
- 8 serve with chicken.
