Simmered Chinese Chicken

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 whole fryer
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon catsup
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 1 clove garlic, pressed
  • 1 green onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil in dutch oven, brown chicken on all sides.
  • 2 mix soy sauce and next 6 ingredients, pour over chicken.
  • 3 cover, simmer 45 to 50 minutes.
  • 4 remove chicken to platter, draining juices back into pan.
  • 5 skim fat from sauce.
  • 6 mix cornstarch and water, stir into sauce.
  • 7 stir, constant, until thick.
  • 8 serve with chicken.
