Steamed Buns With Meat Filling

Total Time: 2 hrs 25 mins Preparation Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110f)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (bleached, if possible)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water, warm
  • 1/2 cup low-fat milk, warm
  • 1 tablespoon shortening, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • meat, for filling (bbq lamb, or whatever you choose)

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, combine yeast and 1/4 cup water. let stand for 5 minutes, until foamy.
  • 2 add 2 1/2 cups flour, sugar, water, milk, shortening and baking powder and stir well.
  • 3 add remaining flour gradually until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl.

  • 11 steam buns for 18-20 minutes, in batches if necessary, until springy to the touch. serve hot.
