Karachi Halwa Ii

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 500 g caster sugar
  • 115 g arrowroot
  • 3 -5 drops yellow food coloring
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice
  • ghee, as required
  • 60 g almonds
  • 30 pistachios

Recipe

  • 1 dissolve the sugar in 3 cups of water.
  • 2 stir and boil for 5 minutes.
  • 3 strain through a sieve lined with muslin cloth.
  • 4 mix arrowroot powder with 1.
  • 5 5 cups cold water to make a thin paste.
  • 6 cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture turns into one lump-less lump!
  • 7 add lime juice.
  • 8 stir away!
  • 9 gradually add the sugar syrup.
  • 10 when the mixture sticks to the base of the pan, add 1 tablespoons.
  • 11 ghee.
  • 12 repeat this step until the mixture becomes a lump again!
  • 13 fold in the nuts.
  • 14 pour into a greased pan.
  • 15 smooth down with a greased spoon.
  • 16 allow to cool.
  • 17 cut into squares and serve.
  • 18 store refrigerated for upto 4 days.
